On Monday Julia had her first ballet class for the 2012-2013 season. She takes ballet at Cumming Dance Academy on Mondays from 9:30-10:15. Miss Julie is her teacher again this year since we think she's great.
Ready for ballet class to start.
Reagan and Jaiden were in her class last year and it's nice for Julia to already have friends in her class.
There are twelve three year old girls in her class this year which is a bunch compared to last year. Miss Julie was the only teacher on Monday but I'm sure they will add another teacher since there are so many girls.
Everyone was ready! Julia was a great listener and had such a fun time. This year she will preform in a Holiday show along with the end of the year performance. Fun, fun!

Learning Time
Since Julia doesn't nap on a daily basis I thought it would be great to have a little bit of learning time while Andrew takes his afternoon nap. Lately we've been working on counting, writing her name and reading words in the -at family. Here's Julia using M&M's to count the rainbows on a piece of paper and then locating that number. We've also been playing Uno and goldfish to reinforce numbers and counting.

Ready for Halloween
This year Julia has decided she wanted to be Cinderella for Halloween. On Saturday I went to a Halloween costume consignment sale and got Julia's costume (dress, shoes, wand, and tiara) for $17. She was so excited when I brought it home and has been wearing it so much around the house. The dress is from the Disney Store and normally cost $45 so I was super excited with my great deal.
We can't wait until the movie Cinderella is released on October 2nd. We bought our copy and I'm looking forward to watching it with Julia for the first time. I'm sure she'll be wearing her Cinderella dress while we watch the movie. I was also lucky to pick up a brand new costume for Andrew at the consignment sale for $12. This year he is going to be a lion. He tried the costume on to be sure it fit but unlike Julia he hasn't been wearing it everyday so you'll have to wait until Halloween for a photo of him in it. Are you getting ready for Halloween yet?

Surrounded by Books
Lately Andrew has really been taking a liking to books...yeah! Julia absolutely loves books and I'm so glad Andrew enjoys them too. I went to start a load of laundry and came back to find Andrew surrounded by books. He pulled them all out of his baskets and was "reading" them. Right now he loves the flip books and a book about trucks he got for his birthday from our sweet friends The Boisseau Family.
I love how he "reads" the books and tosses it aside and goes onto the next one.
We need to be careful with the flip books since he has already ripped off a few of them. I've glued them all back on but now we don't leave him alone with them. As you can see he sometimes even "reads" the books up side down.

Julia's First Day of Preschool
Today was Julia's first day of preschool at Cumming First Baptist Church. I've heard many great things about this preschool from so many different people that I figured it must be great. I visited this one and our church preschool but was very impressed with Cumming First Baptist Church. When I signed her up way back in January (I know eight months ago but that's how it works if you want to get into a certain school) I chose two days a week but I didn't get my first choice and Julia was put into the three day program. I was devastated but hoped someone would move or want to make a change and a spot in the two day would open up. She was first on the waiting list and luckily for me someone in the two day wanted to switch for three days...thank goodness. I think two days is plenty since this is her first time being away from me and with everything else we have going on. I still want her to enjoy being mostly schedule free and do things like make pancakes on a Tuesday morning or stay in our jammies until lunch on a rainy day just because we can. We already do ballet and playgroup so two days is perfect for us!
I love this photo! Julia gave me some great smiles this morning... so genuine and not phony like she does sometimes.
Andrew is overdue for his nap and is completely exhausted! Poor little guys schedule was all messed up today with the start of school. Usually he takes two naps and they last about 90 minutes each but unfortunately today he only napped once for 60 to 70 minutes. We need to make some adjustments so Andrew gets his naps..it made for a long afternoon/evening since he was wiped out.
This picture cracks me up...look how big her backpack is compared to her. All packed...snack, lunch, folder and a change of clothes just in case.
There was a little drizzle in the air and Julia loved using her umbrella.
Julia and her teacher Ms. Marjorie.
Her cubby for her lunch and her snack.
Her other teacher Ms. Dana.
This picture makes me so sad since she was standing alone. It always takes Julia a little bit to join in on new situations. Even though I wasn't surprised about this it just made me cry so I stayed for a bit in a room down the hall. I wasn't ready to leave until I knew she wasn't alone.
Another teacher went to check on her for me and took my camera and snapped this great photo of Julia. So glad she warmed up and joined the other kids quickly.
I couldn't wait to pick her up at one o'clock to find out how her day went...I was so excited - more excited than a kid in a candy store! We got her a little 'First Day of Preschool Present' which was some stuff from Bath and Body Works...fun girly smelling lotion, shower gel and a loofah since she likes using mine along with a few candy treats. When I picked her up and asked how her day was she said "GREAT" with such enthusiasm that it made me feel so much better. She did such a great job at telling me all about her day. Of course I asked many questions but she answered them and even provided more information. It was great to hear about her day and she said she was sad to leave school which I thought was funny since earlier that morning she was telling me she didn't want to go to school. It was such an emotional day for me since I always have Julia and Andrew with me and it was hard leaving her at school. I'm so thankful she had a great day and hopefully it will get easier for me soon. I just love spending time with Julia and Andrew that I'm in no rush for them to go to school. I know my days of staying home with them are passing quickly...much faster than I would like so I'm enjoying all the little moments we have together.
Julia enjoyed her card in addition to the gifts.
Checking out her new girly 'stuff.' I'm so proud of Julia and I love this girl more and more everyday! What a day...I'm glad it's over and everything went well!

Preschool Open House
On Thursday night I attended the Parent Orientation for Julia's preschool and on Friday morning we all went to meet her teachers, see the classroom and meet her new friends. Julia will be going to Cumming First Baptist Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-1. Even though it's only two days a week, it will be a big adjustment for Mommy.
I can't believe she's three years old already and old enough for preschool.
She walked rather quickly in front of us into school holding her bear we decorated to hang on the bulletin board in class. She was ready and hopefully she does well on Tuesday and loves it!
Mommy and Julia decorating a bear to tell more about Julia.
They can earn 'tickets' and once they get 5 tickets they get to go to the treasure chest and pick out a prize.

Playing Around
Julia and Andrew love playing around and this day they got to ride around on Daddy's back. Julia just giggled, giggled and giggled some more.
If you're lying on the floor Andrew loves to crawl over you and sit across your back or your belly and bounce up and down. He loves to be a part of the playing around too! We love having fun with these two kids.
