Julia has been waiting for a while for Thomas to be a Watch Dog at her school. Watch D.O.G.S stands for Dads of Great Students and it's a way to get the dads involved in the school. Obviously many dads can't volunteer weekly like many moms do but this program is designed to get the dads in the school and volunteer for one day or you can sign up for as many times as you'd like. Thomas says he'll try to do it one or twice a year. He took the day off from work and volunteered the whole day at Julia's school and she was ECSTATIC about having her dad at school all day. We're so thankful he works close by and has been able to go in and eat lunch with her but this was quite a big deal to Julia. They did a few extra things with the kids and their dads like have them on the morning announcements and even gave Julia a little goodie bag. Too bad Thomas can't be a Watch Dog more often...Julia jumped out of bed so quickly that morning because she was so excited! It was definitely a special day for Julia but for Thomas as well.
I love it that Thomas went to school. It was probably very exciting for Julia to have him there all day. Nice that he gave up a whole vacation/personal day to do it, too!
