Learning to Cut
Seeing all the back to school stuff in stores got me thinking it might be a good idea to introduce scissors to Andrew. Of course he's tried using Julia's when we accidentally left them on the table but thought it would be nice for him to have him own (and not pink). He really wanted orange but they didn't have that color so he picked out green instead. Here's my little lefty learning how to cut...such a big boy. Oh and one more thing - he went pee pee on the potty tonight before bath. Maybe diapers will become a part of my past sooner than I thought. All the little things he does everyday that show he's not a baby but more of a big boy. Makes me kinda sad my little guy is growing up way to fast for me. :(

A Fun Morning
We're definitely enjoying our summer and our days with no where to be all that early. Julia also enjoys sleeping in just like her mommy. I finally woke her up about 9:15 since she was still sleeping (but then again the day before she was up at 7:30...so not like her).
Silly kids showing me their feet.
Such a happy little girl who likes to get about 11 hours of sleep at night.
After being silly they moved onto read books...lots of books.

Coloring/Craft Time
Lately Andrew is into coloring and he continues to use his left hand. It will definitely be an adjustment for me to help me when it comes to holding a pencil correctly and things like that but I'm looking forward to it. He does a great job and works at it for a bit until the page is quite full.
Definitely need to work on correct pencil grip...the teacher in me is coming out.
Julia of course is into crafts and making things. Here she is making a frame for her picture that she wanted to hang up in her room. She's so sweet she even made one for Andrew too!

Ready for Halloween
Can you believe it's only August and we're about ready for Halloween? Julia decided she wanted to be Minnie Mouse this year which is quite fitting since we just visited Disney World for the first time back in May. Since Andrew isn't really into much I got to thinking it would be cute if he was Mickey Mouse and of course the Disney Store had a Minnie and Mickey Mouse costume so I got them both when I had a 25% off coupon back in July. Just need to get a black shirt and pants for Andrew to wear under his costume and I think we'll be all set. They're both quite excited about the costumes and plan on carrying their stuffed animals with them trick-or-treating.
Aunt Josie's Pizza
When I was growing up we would go to an Italian restaurant named Aunt Josie's and always ordered garlic cheese pizza. It was so good and as I was surfing on Pinterest I saw a recipe and it reminded me of the pizza I had as a kid at Aunt Josie's so of course I had to make it myself. Since moving to Georgia I would occasionally stop in Aunt Josie's when I was back in Syracuse and relive my childhood and order the garlic cheese pizza but unfortunately they closed a little while ago. So I was obviously very excited to try this recipe and hoped it would be as good as Aunt Josie's.
So much fun having Julia and Andrew help make the pizza and of course it made it that much better.
Love making pizza with them...lots for them to do. It was so easy that I'm sure we'll be making it again soon.
Thumbs up for the garlic cheese pizza and it very much reminded me of the pizza I had growing up as a kid. Love the memories!

Swim Lessons
We signed up for the next level of swim lessons and at first it didn't go as smoothly as our last session. In the prior session she floated on her back just fine but this time the instructor starts to let go of her and that really scared her. Even though he is right there it made her dislike swim lessons which made me so sad since she loved it her first time around. I talked with the instructor and he gave her more support to help her feel more comfortable and by the next session she was feeling much better. Still somewhat timid and afraid that she would sink but much better.
Here she is during the first class reaching for me since she was afraid to float on her back again. Mommy's eyes teared up because I felt so bad...sometimes I'm such a wimp myself but I just hated to see her so scared.
By the last class she was doing great.
There are a few things we need to work on from this session but she improved so much from her first class. Love my little girl and she definitely approaches life very cautiously.

Zoo Visit
Last summer I put my name on the waiting list at the library for free tickets to the zoo and about a week ago I got the call saying it was my turn to check out the tickets. Julia said she liked the flamingos best and I'm sure you can guess why...they're pink of course.
The giraffes were up so close to where we were standing which was pretty cool.
So glad Julia's friend Sunny could join us at the last minute on our visit to the zoo. It didn't rain but they had a blast with the umbrella.
Three cute kiddos and their photo with the komodo dragon. Look at Andrew...he cracks me up!
