One sad boy

Such a sad boy because he couldn't have more fruit before he ate the other things on his plate.  Rough life, huh?

Dad's Night

It's was dad's night at Julia's school and Julia and Daddy had such a fun time going to Smalltown together just like they did last year.  Julia actually remembered so much about Smalltown from last year so you know it was something she really enjoyed.  Each room at preschool is set up as a doctor's office, car wash, movie theatre, hardware store, ice cream store, salon, etc and they go to each room and pay with pretend money to do the activity in the room.  Such a fun time for kids and their dads and one that Julia will remember for a long time to come.  This night was even more special since they went out to dinner with Grace and her dad before heading to Smalltown.  Fun times for our little girl and Daddy too!

Good to the last drop..

Andrew isn't the best eater around unless it comes to treats like frozen yogurt.  He wanted to make sure he got every last drop of that frozen yogurt. Yummy!

Valentine's Day Party

Since school was cancelled the day they were suppose to have their Valentine's Party is was rescheduled for the following week.  Julia got lots of goodies from her Valentine's Day party at school.  It was fun looking at them all and her favorite ones were a Minnie Mouse valentine and a Frozen valentine.

Look at her super cute Valentine holder!  Does it look like her?

Boyce's Visit

My brother and his family drove into town with my mom the morning of our second snow storm of the season.  The kids did some coloring to pass the time while we waited for family to arrive...Julia was absolutely thrilled to have everyone come and visit.

With all the snow we decided we needed to build a snowman since the snow didn't pack well with our last storm and plus now we had lots of extra help.  My niece's boyfriend, Michael, proved to be a great help even though he lives in South Carolina.

Julia was all excited to have eyes, nose, mouth and arms for our snowman.

My niece Chelsea was in charge of sculpting.

Michael even had the idea of adding a little seat in front of the snowman for Julia and we were lucky enough to have Beckett Bear from her classroom at home with us during the snow storm.

Photo of those who worked on the snowman.  My niece Chelsea, her boyfriend Michael, Julia, me and Chelsea's cousin Jenna.

We had fun having everyone at our house during the snow storm even though I'm sure these New Yorkers thought it was funny that everything was shut down but it worked out well since Thomas' work was closed so he was able to enjoy all the fun as well.  Can't wait for their next visit and hopefully it will be nice weather next time.

More Snow Fun

It rarely snows it Atlanta but this year we got our second snowfall of the season so we took advantage of it by heading outside to play for a little while.  Julia was lucky enough to bring home Beckett Bear from her classroom right before our snow storm so she thought it would be fun to give it a ride on our boogie board..aka sled.

Julia was so sweet and gave Andrew a ride on the boogie board too even though he was a tad bit heavier than Beckett Bear.

She was working hard pulling Andrew...such a strong girl.

Teddy Bear Parade

The teddy bear parade was scheduled for Thursday, January 30th but because of the snow and ice school was cancelled and then it was rescheduled for Thursday, February 6th...only two days after Julia's surgery.  What a bummer because we already made the float and Julia was excited about it and now she might not be able to make it.  I've heard from many others recovery for adenoids and tubes isn't bad at all and she might be feeling well enough to attend.  We said if she was feeling well enough we would let her go to just the parade which would only last about 30 minutes.  Thankfully the day before she was up and singing by the afternoon and ate a normal dinner and felt fine the next morning.

All ready to go upstairs for the parade.

 Here she comes.

Oh and it was also pajama day and she missed the last pajama day at school right before Christmas break so she was super excited she got to wear them today.

Julia's float which was definitely a family effort...minus Andrew of course.

After the parade I went to pick up Julia in her class and they were having a little picnic.  Julia came up to me and said I'm having so much fun I don't want to leave.  Of course they had other fun things planned and she was feeling good so I let her stay for about an hour.  Andrew and I ran to one store in town and then went back and got her.

One picture of Julia and her float.

Of course Julia and her best friend Grace.  So glad she met such a sweet girl.

On our way out of school.  So glad she got to participate in the Teddy Bear Parade and pajama day because after all these are the things that are most important to a 5 year old...hence they're important to us too!

Julia's Recovery

On Tuesday, February 4th Julia had surgery and had her adenoids removed and tubes put in her ears.  We've been having repeated ear infections and sinus infections and after seeing an ENT we've been advised to remove her adenoids since they are large. Since she just had an ear infection in December and again in January in addition to others throughout the past year I asked about the possibility of tubes.  After talking with the doctor's office and telling the doctor her history he agreed tubes would be a good thing.  Everything went great with the surgery and the doctor said it was good we put tubes in since her left ear had fluid and was kinda a mess.  Hopefully by doing this surgery Julia will feel better more often.  She threw up twice after leaving the hospital which they told us to expect...she needed to get that anesthesia out of her system but felt much better after that.  The morning after surgery she just lied around and watched TV with her baby and mommy lamb.  She's had the baby lamb since she was a baby and we gave her the mommy lamb the day she went to the hospital.  Despite not feeling the greatest she still wanted to get dressed and put on a tutu.

One of the pros was being able to have things like ice cream, milkshakes, and popsicles.  Anything soft and anything to promote drinking so milkshakes it was.

Andrew got to take advantage of the yummy milkshake even though he didn't have surgery...what a lucky boy!

We also got her a sticker book since she needs to take it easy for a week.  I'm so glad the surgery is over and it went well since many times I had trouble falling asleep at night thinking about it.  Obviously I feel bad that she had to go through something like that but we're hopeful about what it will do for her.  We love our little girl and it's hard seeing your child not feeling well.

Thomas turns 40!

Happy 40th birthday to a great husband and wonderful father to our two kids.  We're so lucky he is part of our life.  His birthday fell on a Monday so probably not the most exciting day but at the end of the month he's going away for a weekend to meet up with a buddy of his he met in Kindergarten.  We'll miss him that weekend but how many of us can say we've had a good friend that long.  Looking forward to spending the next 40 years together.

His dessert choice for his birthday was a Carvel cake which made it super easy for me.  We love you Thomas!

More fun outside

We were lucky to have another nice day and got to enjoy our playground in the backyard for a little while. We're always thankful for any days during the winter when we can get outside even if it's only for 20 minutes and enjoy some nice weather.  Always staying inside drives me crazy!

Julia's Birthday at School

Monday was quite the busy day for me with celebrating Julia's birthday at school since school was cancelled two days last week when we were scheduled to celebrate, Thomas' birthday (he turns 40), and finalizing everything for Julia's surgery tomorrow in addition to talking with the doctor's office about the possibility of putting tubes in her ears at surgery.  Anyways, Julia was so excited about me coming into her class to celebrate her birthday.  I love how excited she looks when she saw me and the how the treats came out.

Still hard to believe I have a 5 year old.  Feel so blessed in many ways that Julia is our little girl.  She definitely loves her birthday crown she got from school.

Minnie Mouse brownies with each child's first initial in pink icing.  Making her wish and blowing out her candle.

Julia and her best friend Grace getting a stamp for moving their clip up on the behavior chart.  I love how they can move their clip up a few times for making good choices.

Of course a photo of Julia and Grace.

Beautiful Day

It's kinda funny but I just posted about our Winter Storm 2014 where we had snow, ice, and freezing temperatures and just a few days later I'm posting about getting outside on a beautiful day and enjoying the nice weather.  Daddy had to work today (Sunday) since he is taking two days off for Julia's surgery and it was nice for us to get outside and play for a bit.  Despite cold weather another reason I dislike winter is because you can't get outside enough to play.  Andrew is having fun playing on the Plasma Car.  Both him and Julia love going down the driveway fast with us on the Plasma Car.  There were lots of giggles playing outside today!

Awwww

These two kids are so sweet and they melt my heart.  Of course they have times when they don't get along but I love the times when they are loving on each other.  Hope they stay close as they get older.
