Painting

This afternoon Julia and I did some painting in the basement with her new paint she got in her Easter basket. At first she thought we were going outside to paint with water but I told her this time we were going to use colors. She painted for a little bit but then she wanted to play with Elmo and the stroller that we keep in the basement.

Easter 2011

When Julia came down in the morning she was excited to see all the things the Easter bunny had brought her.

She loves her Little People so her face lit up when she saw she got two more Little People. One was a little girl and the other was a bunny...most appropriate for Easter.

She also got some pattern block puzzles. She does such a great job with her shapes and knows them all..even an octagon. She also got some finger paint and some small paintbrushes along with her second year memory photo book that I made from Shutterfly.

After spending some time looking at her presents it was time for the egg hunt to begin. Julia loved finding the eggs and had so much fun with it. She found 18 eggs in all or as she would say 'a lot.' Don't you just love her little dress? I got it in Houston at a cute store in the village near my sister's house in Houston called Doodles. Whenever I visit her we always stop in since they have such cute stuff! I bought it back in October with the hope it would fit once it got warmer and it does.

She found one of her last eggs in her playroom. This time she wasn't picky about the color of the egg.

Julia enjoyed the little gummy snacks inside and she thought they were her Dora and monkey fruit snacks.

Last week at a friend's house she used a paintbrush and some water to paint their patio and I told Thomas how she loved it so much. He happened to be in Home Depot so her picked up a bucket and two paint brushes so she could paint our deck at home too. Such a simple idea but she really loved it so thanks to Cole's mom, Miss Jenny, for such a great idea! We had a nice Easter and we hope you and your family did too!

Ashebrooke Easter Egg Hunt

This morning our neighborhood had the annual Easter Egg Hunt down by the pool and despite having a fever, runny nose, and a cough Julia still enjoyed getting 'lots' of eggs. At one point during the egg hunt she passed by quite a few eggs because she wanted a pink egg. Very cute indeed!

After the Easter Egg Hunt was over we stuck around for a bit to help clean up and Julia decided she would have a few Nerds. Actually Nerds were the first piece of candy she had last year at the 4th of July parade. We hope everyone has a Happy Easter!

1, 2, 3, GO!

Whenever we go outside Julia heads right for her playground. She always runs ahead of us and smiles and laughs and says 'swing' once she turns the corner and sees her swing.

Here's Julia giving Elmo a ride on the green swing or otherwise known as Elmo's swing. She has even tried out the big swing all by herself with me close by and ready in case she falls but she knows to hold on tight. Over the weekend she enjoyed throwing a ball down the hill and going to get it and then going back up and throwing the ball down the hill again. She did it over and over and laughed everytime the ball rolled down the hill.

Julia loves her swing as much now as she did when she was little and probably even more. Before we start she says '1, 2, 3, GO.' Lately we've been counting the pushes up to 10 and sometimes Elmo likes to count all by himself. Now that I think back to when we first got the swing we've learned many things while swinging such as lots of body parts like legs, arms, nose, eyes, tongue, etc. Nowadys we work on counting and saying the ABC's while swinging. We have lots of fun on the playground and we're so glad we have one in our backyard to enjoy.

Alpharetta Easter Egg Hunt

This afternoon we went to an Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Alpharetta Parks and Recreation Department. This was our first time so we had no idea what to expect but the advertisement said 'thousands of eggs' so we thought it would be fun. They had it on four softball fields and separated the kids by age. Everyone had to line up against the fence and wait for them to say 'go.' Daddy and Julia waiting for the hunt to begin. It was such a beautiful day and Mommy and Julia waited patiently.
Once the egg hunt began people were running to get as many eggs as they could...it was crazy and this was Julia's reaction. Obviously she had no idea what was going on by the look on her face.

Mommy ran ahead and gathered some eggs for Julia so she would have some while Daddy stayed with her by the first egg we came across. All those eggs and it lasted less than two minutes. Good thing I ran and got some for our little love bug.

Sitting on the grass after the egg hunt and checking to see what she got. Julia liked shaking the eggs and looking inside. She got a sticker, turtle ring, bunny eraser, a compass and a few other things.

Going home with 'a lot' of eggs.

Love Bug Sleeping

When Julia was a baby I would take lots of pictures of her sleeping and I haven't taken any sleeping pictures in a while so today I decided to take a few. After talking with my neighbor yesterday, again I'm reminded how lucky I am that I get to stay home with her. My neighbor is putting her kids in daycare soon after having a nanny for over a year. I'm very thankful to be able to have all this time with her and enjoy all the little moments on top of the big things. On a side note, tonight when I was brushing her teeth I noticed that she cut another molar. Now she only has one more molar to come in and then she'll have all her baby teeth. Kinda sad but my little girl is growing up in so many ways rather quickly.

Julia's Running

I think it's so cute when Julia runs so I had to try and capture it on video. Of course all she wanted to do was look at the video but I managed to get a little bit of her running. Also, this was the first day I put her hair in a ponytail, cute or what?

Fowler Park

This afternoon we headed to the new park near our house called Fowler Park. We've been there a few times but this was the first time we went as a whole family. We met some friends there who live down the street and they were doing a little kite flying until there two year old let go of it and it flew away and Thomas chased it down. Actually some other guy got it since there was a fence and it was headed towards the trees. All I could do was laugh as Thomas ran after the kite...quite a funny sight since it was pretty windy out. I had fun taking some photos of Julia and Daddy as we enjoyed the nice park that connects to the Big Creek Greenway.

Julia did a little swinging at the park too.

Julia and Daddy enjoying the nice park and all the area to run around.

Sitting in the circle and taking a moment to smile so Mommy can take a photo.

Julia liked running around in this circle and wasn't too interested in the playground today.

Julia is being silly and getting Daddy's hat.

Little love bug liked looking over the wall and pulling herself up. What a cute little bum.

Using Glue

Last night Daddy went out to play poker with the boys so it was Julia and me. Lately all she wants to do is play with her Little People but I was able to get her to do something else. We did a little coloring with some heart shaped crayons and then we did some gluing. At first I was doing it and Julia was picking out the little pictures and telling me where to put them but soon enough she was ready to take over. It was her first time using glue and she had lots of fun. We even worked on doing some cutting with scissors.

Julia and her "STUFF"

This picture just makes me laugh! This morning as we were heading out the door Julia decided she couldn't leave home without all this 'stuff.' Hard to believe but she's carrying her purse, a camera bag, a Whole Foods bag with a sweater for Elmo, a blanket for Elmo, a bottle for her baby, and her Elmo and Big Bird car that were on her birthday cake, and of course we can't forget Elmo and her baby. I thought it was hilarious so I had to take a photo and share. We can never go upstairs without bringing up a bunch of things. I guess she remind me of myself when I was little because I carried a ton of things around too! As Julia would say, 'A LOT.'
