Reflections Winner

Each year they have a Reflections Competition at the schools and after explaining to Julia what it was I asked if she wanted to enter and she said yes.  The theme for this year was How Can You Make the World a Better Place?  Julia said the world would be a better place if more people were helpful.  Then she drew this picture of a girl who was shopping and dropped her money and a boy helped her pick it up.  We filled out the form and matted the picture and entered it into the competition for visual arts.

One evening after school they had a gallery where you could go and see all the entries and then they announced first and second place for each category and each grade level.  I told Julia you may or may not get a ribbon but she got a spirit stick for participating and it was something fun since she likes to draw.  I just wanted to prepare her for not getting a ribbon so she wouldn't be sad or upset and she told me 'I hope I get one.'  Of course I told her I hope you get one too but it's fine if you don't because you had a good time and that's all that counts.

Well her drawing won second place for kindergarten at her school and she was absolutely thrilled.  She was so shy walking up towards the stage to get her ribbon but she was one happy girl!  So proud of Julia!

Kinsey Family Farms

We made a quick trip to Kinsey Family Farms for our annual visit to get our pumpkins for Halloween.  We searched all through the pumpkins for the perfect ones and went on the longest hayride we've ever been on.  It was definitely a warm day visiting the pumpkin patch so of course we all wore shorts and short sleeves which is so different from living in New York but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Julia loved pulling the wagon around.

They both picked out 2 pumpkins...one to carve and one to paint.

Sweet Julia with her pumpkins!

Cumming Fair

On Wednesday after school I picked up Julia and asked her if she was ready to go to the fair since the weather was nice.  Of course she was all about going to the fair and when I told her we were going with Haleigh she said 'I'm going to freak out.'  Not quite sure where she got that saying from but she says it once in a while when she's really excited about something.  Cute girls walking into the fair together.

It's so nice that Haleigh has a brother who is 3 years old just like Andrew and now they are becoming buddies too!  First ride of the day was the train!

Look at my big boy Andrew riding all by himself.

Silly girl!

The caterpillar roller coaster was definitely a favorite and they rode it many times!  I love the facial expressions.

So cute!

Julia and Haleigh.

Such sweet kids!

Nemo was another favorite.  Julia loved this ride the last two years.

No hands!

Sweet girls on the merry go round.

Showing off their tougher side on the motorcycles.

Andrew got a kick out of the motorcycles.

Row, row, row your boat. Gently down the stream!

Love their sweet friendship!

Boys on the panda ride!

Girls on the panda ride!

Andrew resting a little.  No stroller and lots of walking for this little guy.

Helicopters.  They really had a ton of rides for small kids and I think we went on all of them.

It was so cute seeing them hold hands all day!

A spinning ride...definitely not my favorite so I'm glad I wasn't on it.  We told the big girls not too much spinning.

So excited to be at the fair together!

Another ride on the roller coaster.

I just love how excited they are.

Dad stopped by the fair for a bit after work since it's only a few blocks from his work.

Being silly!

And even sillier!

It's been so nice to meet Nicole, Heleigh's mom, and Case too.  Such a sweet family!

Time to go home!  We had such a fun time and barely waited in any lines...it was great!  We got there right at 4 and left around 7:30.  Everyone had a blast.

Dinner Playdate

Julia met a sweet girl in her class named Haleigh and always talks abut her.  They sit by each other at lunch, play together at recess and are both car riders in the afternoon.  After hearing so much about Haleigh we decided to invite her family over for a playdate and dinner.  As it turns out Haleigh has a younger brother who is 3 years old like Andrew.  Such sweet girls and thankful Julia found another great friend!

Snoozing

I ran upstairs to take a shower and came back to find sweet Julia taking a cat nap.  I couldn't let her sleep long because I didn't want her up late at night.  Who doesn't love a Saturday afternoon nap?

Bubble Boy

Andrew loves taking a bubble bath and being silly by using the bubbles to make a beard.  Such a silly boy!

Boosterthon Fun Run

The fundraiser Julia's school did this year was Boosterthon. The kids had to run laps and and depending on how many laps they ran depended on how much money you donated to the school.  We decided to do a flat donation rather than get pledges from others.  Haleigh, Julia and Jennifer holding their class sign before the race.

Off they go!

Can you spot Julia?  Still going strong!  It's definitely organized chaos.

Julia mostly ran with Adyson during the race.

They would get the back off their shirt marked when they ran a lap.

They also encouraged everyone to walk a lap every now and then.

So glad I was able to go and cheer her on! Go Julia!

Julia ran and walked 32 laps which is equal to 2 miles!  So proud of her especially since running isn't really her 'thing.'

Tired girls after the race but still smiling.
