More Fun in the Snow

After our first snowfall we got some rain and then some more snow.  Again we headed out right before breakfast because the weather forecast predicted for a warm up in the afternoon and it was going to melt.  The day before we headed out to the store to find some thermals they could wear underneath their clothes to stay warm and we found this kid snow shovel.  Such a perfect find for Andrew who loves to shovel.

He's a hard worker, that's for sure!

We also decided to make a snowman.  Julia and I did most of it while Andrew shoveled the driveway.

But he helped roll one of the ball for a little bit.

Not to bad if I say so myself.  The kids loved finding things to use for the eyes, nose, mouth, buttons, hat, scarf, and arms.

We were getting ready to go inside and the kids were saying good-bye to Snowy the Snowman.

Counting with Andrew

Lately I've been doing more learning time with Andrew and today his assignment was to find different things to represent the numbers from 0-10.  Of course he picked some of his favorite toys like his transformer, monster trucks and cars to represent the numbers.

Snow Day

We don't get snow all that often so when we do it's very exiting for both the kids and us.  No matter how much snow we get they always close schools so it works our perfect for us.  After breakfast we headed right outside to be sure we got some time in the snow because it usually doesn't last long.  This year we have a real sled and the kids loved using it...especially Julia! I definitely got a work out pulling the kids around the yard in the sled.

Love these two!

Sledding down our front yard!  I love those smiles!

Julia sledding down the hill in the backyard!  She absolutely loved it and went up and down a ton!

Andrew has a turn and Julia was giving him a push.

She's at it again!

Andrew liked playing on the playground in the snow.

More sledding from Julia.

Andrew takes out the beach shovel and starts shoveling.

Julia and Andrew shoveling the back deck with beach shovels.  They both loved playing outside and Julia spent most of her time sledding while Andrew enjoyed the playground and shoveling the most.  It was most definitely a fun day.

Ice Storm Playdate

We've had some wintery weather here in Georgia lately and Julia has missed 6 days of school in two weeks.  During the ice storm we lined up two different playdates with Julia's friend Haleigh from school who has a brother Andrew's age. It worked out great since they both had playmates.  It definitely turned out being a fun week for both the kids and the moms.

Roller Skating

I saw a groupon for roller skating and thought it would be something fun and different to do with the kids.  So one Sunday afternoon we headed over to the roller skating rink and man did it bring back memories of being a kid and going roller skating with my mom.

You can rent these little contraptions to help those who've never skated before learn how to skate.  We started out without one but quickly realized how useful it would be so we got one and the kids shared it.

They both did so great skating with it without our help.

After Julia practiced with it for a while she was able to skate alone. She definitely preferred using one since she's usually cautious by nature.

Such a fun afternoon and both kids absolutely loved it and can't wait to return.

Father/Daughter Dance

Each year Julia's school, Kelly Mill Elementary, has a father/daughter dance.  With Julia being in kindergarten it was their first time going but she asked if she could go next year and every year after that so apparently they had a blast!

I love this photo since it truly shows Julia's personality.

I bought Julia this dress last year when I saw it on sale and absolutely loved it.  So glad it now fits and she was able to wear it to the dance.  I know I'm biased but she looked absolutely gorgeous!

Checking out her corsage.

Andrew wanted to get in a picture with pretty little Julia before she left.  The details I got from Julia and Daddy were when they first got there they talked with some friends, made a snowman craft, ate dinner, and then danced.  It was definitely a fun filled night for both Daddy and Julia.  It looks like they'll be heading to the dance again next year.

Julia's Birthday at School

The last Friday of every month Julia's class celebrates all the birthdays in that month and of course Julia was excited to celebrate her birthday at school.  Caroline and Julia were the only birthdays in January so we brought in a cookie cake along with drinks for them to share with their school friends.

Thomas ended up going in for the birthday celebration instead of me since Andrew needed to be picked up from school but I'm sure Julia loved it when her classmates sang Happy Birthday.

It worked out great having Thomas go in for the birthday celebration since I get to volunteer every Monday.  It made it even more special for Julia! She loved having her Daddy come to school for a little bit.
